How to never run out of ideas for content to sell digital products- An easy “7 steps for 7 days” content system explained

Creating content on a consistent basis to promote your online courses and other services is hard, but not impossible. The keyword here is consistency. If you don’t stay consistent with being in front of your audience, they will forget about you very very quickly.

After all, you have put in so much workcreating your own online course,so you do want to sell digital products on a CONSISTENT basis, right?

Custom HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT

What you need to do:

But creating original content is also very time consuming, right? Right!

In this article, I will teach you how you can create a content bank for yourself. You will learn about the7 Pillar Content Systemand how you can use it to never run out of ideas for content and generate massive traffic to your digital goods landing pages.

“Why waste a sentence saying nothing?” Seth Godin

There are 7 pillars (for 7 days) you should follow if you want to build raving fans, and not just a following, which are:

  1. Inspire Desire

  2. Connect to Effect

  3. Educate to Dominate

  4. Entertain to Attain

  5. Educate to Dominate (again)

  6. Qualification for Consideration

  7. Pitch & Sell Well

Day 1: Inspire Desire

Written by Tina Dahmen 4 min Read How to never run out of ideas for content to sell digital products

Think about stories which are inspiring and which you can share with the reader to learn more about you and your online course/ digital goods in general.

Those can be your personal stories or other people’s stories. They simply need to make them want to achieve the same things that you have!

Go back to your list of values you wrote down (available in The 7 Pillar Content System), pick one and create 2-3 paras of content which reflect one of them in your story. Key here is that the story always has a hook, then the story follows and then an offer (CTA to like your post, share it, follow you, click a link or anything like that).

Think about the times when you hit a wall and were simply stuck in any situation. And write all these scenarios down. All of them.

Then look over your list of scenarios when you were stuck in your journey. Pick the stories which resonate the most with your reader right now.

How do you know which ones do?

Well, you always meet your reader where they are at. So you tell a story which represents you (or someone else, but preferably you) being stuck in the same situation in which they are stuck in right now- THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A CONNECTION.

Day 2: Connect to Effect

This way, the reader can IDENTIFY themselves with you and will think “Oh, if Tina “made it” and was stuck there before, then I can make this too!”

This way you appear human to them and less like a superhero (even though that would be cool too!). This will make them like you.

If you can show them you are just an ordinary person as well, they will not only trust you, but they will start to like and know you.

Day 3: Educate to Dominate

How to never run out of ideas for content to sell digital products

Start educating your readers on topics in your niche. The things you are going to say in this post are mostly depending on how ‘warm’ your audience is. Are they cold? Did you just add a bunch of new people to your list?

Or have they been following you for a while now and are aware of the problems you are solving?

If they are new to your feed, you can start sharing basic content which makes them (more) aware or remind them of the problem they have (if they don’t know about the problem yet).

If they are already aware of the problem, choose different content, more advanced stuff- use different language & different copy.

For example, if you are selling programmes about how to create online courses that *actually* sell (I do that), then 3 reasons on WHY they should have an online course would be a great post for a cold audience.

E.g.: You work less, you make more money & serve more people at the same time.

If they are already aware that they want to create an online course, they may face different problems, such as not knowing which platform to use or where to start.

Here I could post something like “The Top 3 Platforms to Use if You Don’t Have Time to Maintain Your Website Yourself”, or: “10 Crucial Steps to Consider Before You Get Started”.

The more value you provide, the more people will see you as the authority in the space.

Deeper Expert Insights (Your Niche)

E.g.: A key concept of yours which made your clients go ‘WOW- I didn’t know about that!”

Again, write down a list of topics/incidences which made people go WOW on your work. If you don’t have that now and you are just starting out – no problem!

Here is the solution:

Get beta clients on board and make them go WOW – (and collect testimonials).

Examples for value bombs in my niche (monetise your presence like a boss) – 3 HOT tips on:

  1. Why to choose an Instagram grid to sell digital products

  2. How to decide on your next product

  3. Where to find your dream customer

  4. How to get your ideal customer on the phone

  5. Which type of lead magnet should you create?

  6. How to get in front of the right people

  7. How to land the first brand deal

  8. How to write a brand deal contract etc.

  9. How to create a curriculum for your online course

  10. How to pre-sell your course before you created it

Entertaining your customers or prospects has never been more important than it is now, especially in the online world. Consumers have endless options to research competition and you really have to stand out to catch their eye, attention and win them over.

And the most effective way to do that is to entertain your audience in a way that it’s relevant to them.

There are a few ways to entertain your audience. Look at them and if you don’t have personas yet, create them. Research their interests, goals and objectives and speak to those, tie those interests of your audience into a fun piece of content. You could shock them with something or do something unexpected, be funny or sarcastic.

Day 4: Entertain To Attain

How to never run out of ideas for content to sell digital products

This step is vital to create a basic human to human connection.

For example, what I like to do is to photoshop my face into well-known people’s quotes.

When people see my profile the first time (and they don’t know me), I hear that I can come across as tough, unreachable and scary lol. Yes, that’s the feedback I get.

So, I like to make my audience laugh sometimes with just telling jokes or putting my face into Albert Einstein’s, which makes me look more ‘human’ and funny.

Day 5: Educate to Dominate

How to never run out of ideas for content to sell digital products

 Repeat day 3.

Ok, until this point, people now know you, they like you but they don’t trust you yet.

It’s your time to shine. Share customer’s reviews and results. Get video reviews from your customers and share them all over social media, maybe even create an extra album for it on FB – or a separate highlight story on Instagram.

Do you have a degree or certification related to the industry you are in? Rub it into people’s faces. Yes, even if we know, degrees don’t mean much and you actually learn the most by actually doing the work, however, it’s so ingrained into people’s subconscious mind that they still value it, which will increase your authority in their eyes.

Day 6: Qualification for Consideration

Do you write for a larger publication? Add it to your FB bio and share smaller bits of those articles you have submitted to the publication.

If you don’t have that many client’s wins just yet, you can also share other people’s success stories (which aren’t necessarily created by you!)

Day 7: Pitch and Sell Well

How to never run out of ideas for content to sell digital products

This is your day to pitch and to sell digital products. Create irresistible offers which they can not say “no” to. Highlight the benefits in every offer, not the features, create urgency and scarcity. Tell a story and lead with emotions. Because that’s the only way people will remember what you just said.

Make sure your urgency is real. Do not lie.

Remember the framework: HOOK – STORY – OFFER

For example:

Hook: Reach 5 figure months selling online courses in the next 6 months without having any followers or any brand recognition by joining my 5 Figure Bosses Mastermind.

Story: Tell your story – meet them where they are at NOW, tie benefits into it – how will this make them feel reaching the goal you are promising? Use the concept of future pacing.

Offer: I only have 2 spots left for my upcoming mastermind round – applications will close tonight 23.00 pm GMT. The next time we will open up the round will be only next year and we will double the price. Anyone who applies today (and gets accepted will get NAME BONUS 1 & 2 HERE).
